Ashtanga Yoga Training with Manju Jois

First Series Ashtanga Yoga – Yoga Chikitsa + Introduction to Yoga Therapy (Ver evento en español)

This first series works on the strengthening, activation and drainage of the digestive system, on the purification of toxins and on the strengthening, stretching and alignment of the skeletal muscle system.

You will also have the opportunity to learn the Vedic mantras (Start / End Mantras + Shanti Mantras) and the Pranayamas that go with them and complete the practice of Ashtanga Yoga directly from one of the main masters of this tradition. These Mantras and Pranayamas are not normally explained or taught in class, so it is a unique opportunity to access to this knowledge and to be able to apply it into your practice and teaching.

Manju will also give us some notions and advances on how to apply the postures and adjustments of Ashtanga Yoga in a therapeutic way, a knowledge in which he is a true and recognized expert.

 

About Manju Jois

Manju is the eldest son of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, creator of the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga method.

Manju was born on November 16, 1944. At the age of 7, Manju was awakened early every day by his father to begin the lessons that would change the course of both his life and the lives of those who would study with him forever. He began his teaching career at the age of 15 with his father and continued so far.

Manju considers it is a great honor to be the son of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois: “He is my father and my teacher. I am very grateful to both my mother and my father.” Manju’s mother, Savatri Jois, (Sathu for his family) was a beloved wife, loving mother and an expert in Indian cuisine. Manju is comitted to his wife Nancy and his daughter Sathu, who is named after his paternal grandmother, born in 2002. Sathu is a young woman with many talents, who continues blessing the Jois family beyond any measure.

Manju has taught the true Mysore Ashtanga method for more than 47 years. Covering 22 countries and the 21 states of the United States. The journey of teaching Ashtanga in the world by Manju is increasing widespread. Manju is grateful to Gary Herlich and all the other people who helped him to be able to stay in the United States when he started teaching in North America.

He offers Ashtanga weekend workshops, teacher classes and one-week training program. He incorporates pranayama and Vedic songs in his classes, which go very well with the practice of Ashtanga yoga. Manju’s intention is to teach guided by the path of the Ancient Tradition and to bring all the benefits of Ashtanga Yoga to his students.
His desire is to produce a “better understanding”of Ashtanga yoga to his students in a world full of distractions. Manju’s dedication to his life as a teacher and yoga practitioner has brought the benefits of the ancient tradition of Ashtanga Yoga to many students around the world, leading each of them to “Come together with themselves.”
